From the horses mouth...

How many of you used the advice that we gave leading up to Valentines day and 'sealed the deal' with your girl?

How many of you ladies out there know that your man read this blog and therefore experienced a more romantic side of him that was previously hiding.

Tell us your story, via the 'comment' box below.

We'd love to know if our blog did in fact help anyone, and how worth it would be if we were to continue adding to it, because we all know that ROMANTIC is accepted 24/7 365 and not only on Valentines day, or as some would call it "Singles Awareness Day".

One of the authors of this blog has first hand experience of the benefits of the blog... Her guy took the time to read and action the CHEESY but EASY blog, and I have no doubt that the response was well worth it from his side.  If it was only him that found the CHEESY but EASY blog helpful - I'm happy with that! Even though that was not the intention, the happiness that my friend felt, was WELL worth the time we spent to create this blog.

Challenge: Turn a romantic day into a romantic year!

Lets colour...

Second post for the day... it's a simple yet unique way of saying I love you...

Make a pit stop on your way home today at the paint or hardware store to collect some paint sample strips and make your own card for your lady... CHEESY, EASY and FREE :) Now no-one is calling you a cheapskate, but who doesn't like something that costs nothing.

The most difficult thing about this tip is choosing the perfect colour.  Perhaps its her favourite shade of lipstick... the colour of your wedding theme, the colour of your favourite nickers of hers... make it personal - add a little sentiment to it and VOILA - LET'S COLOUR!

Rolling with my homies

So you're the only one of your friends that doesn't know what they're doing for their girl on Valentines Day?

I think not...

I bet your friends are just as stuck, if not as clueless as you might be.  Gather around boys, and make a night of it.  Who said the night before Valentines Day couldn't be BOYS BAKING NIGHT!

Before you get all clinched up and manly and think to yourself 'Men don't Bake'... well, they do... and they sure get a lot of attention from the women.

I don't suggest you make chocolate soufflé , creme brulee or Croquembouche (unless you can, then by all means).

I'm thinking...CHEESY BUT EASY!

What about some 'XOXO' Rice Crispy Treats.  These treats are very easy to make and are sure to impress your girl.  Even if she is a fitness freak or wheat and gluten intolerant, the effort that you put in and the message you choose to use will get her gushing for you for days.

So how do you make these Rice Crispy Treats... it's so easy that I've even found a 7 steps guide to help you along the way (see below for link).  The only difficult part will be deciding what message you want to cut out of your Rice Crispy Treats...  Another idea instead of cutting out a message is to cut out a heart in the middle and put a piece of paper underneath with your personal note sticking through.

If baking with your boys doesn't sound like an ideal boys night out, add some beer and make it a competition
DONE DEAL! - with the boys and the girl ;)

Music makes the heart grow fonder.

Ever wonder why every other song you hear has got something to do with love and romance? Or how Justin Bieber, One Direction, Bruno Mars and many more have become an object of desire for so many woman?

Two Words: LOVE SONGS

Now, not every man is a musician and most of you have gone through puberty and can therefore no longer sing like Justin Bieber. But there’s still a way to impress your girl with music by showing her your great compilation skills.

Yes guys, remember the mixed tape?

Getting your hands on a cassette tape might be a bit difficult we suggest you try the CD instead. The CD has an ‘old school flair’ and should be used rather than an impersonal flash drive.
Although we like ‘cheesy’ and we like it a lot, we believe that even cheesy has its limits, so don’t fill a whole mix CD with the ‘top 20 love songs’ that you got from Google.

Instead create a compilation of songs that make you think of her. Songs that remind you of your fondest memories together. Add that song she always sings out loud in the car and the one you had on repeat on your last vacation. If you have ‘a song’ that must go on the list. Remember to personalise the actual disk to, draw a heart and write a short message.

Someone once said: “Music is what feelings sound like.”

Gents if you don’t like to talk about your feelings all you need to do is find the right music.

Mr Dreamy... Get Steamy!

Simple and well received - running a bath for your loved one.  When I say run a bath, I don't mean run some water in a bath, I mean include the romantic extra's too.  These include:  Bubbles.... in the form of Bubble Bath as well as Champagne bubbles, candles to set the ambiance and lastly some soft music playing in the background (for me you can never go wrong with Sade).  When she walks in, she can simply kick off her shoes and hop right in.  Don't forget the most important inclusion - YOU!  If the bath is big enough of course....

But what about those that are reading this thinking 'That would be nice if I had a bath'.

I'm assuming you have a shower at least. This can be done here too, and may be a little more comfy for the both of you to do.  Instead of bubbles for this, let's include some steam.  Run a REALLY hot shower before she gets in and make the glass steam up.  Write her a note on the steam.  When the steam disappears, so will your message, until there is steam again!  So it's up to you to recreate steam, in whichever way you choose ;)

Get creative... and MR DREAMY... GET STEAMY!

Creativity takes courage....

AND HOW COURAGEOUS ARE YOU?

Valentines day cards are cheesy... We like cheesy... but we like cheesy when it comes from your mouth and not that of CNA or CARDIES.

Being creative means expressing your personality in a different way... It is intelligence having fun!  You do not have to be an artist, a movie director, a song artist or even an architect... You just need an imagination! We all have one of those... Even the Accountant and the Stock Controller reading this blog have imaginations.  So let's put them to use, and create a card for your girlfriend.

There are apps to help you with this type of thing.  Girls love photo's of themselves with their men - I'm sure you have libraries full of pics like these... why not edit it with an app like Moldiv? Add a frame, add some words - straight from your heart and not the heart of an ad agency.  Moldiv is brilliant and is downloadable on PC's as well as Apple and Android products and the best part is it's free!

This will go down like... Hmmmm .... let's keep this censored!

Pick or Pay....

I'm sure you've bought your girl a bunch of flowers before... and I'm sure that she appreciated and loved them very much.  Every girl loves flowers, and loves receiving flowers.

BUT... Have you picked her flowers from a garden?  Note how I said 'A' garden and not 'YOUR' garden. Implying that you don't have to own a garden to pick your girlfriend flowers from a garden.  Am I advocating that you break into someone else's garden to steal their flowers? NOOOOOOOoooooo... I'm merely suggesting that you borrow them ;)

Stop on your way home if you see some beautiful flowers on the road... pick them... Simple, beautiful and thoughtful :)

I must warn you however that picking Arum Lilly's from the side of the road is ILLEGAL!!! Please don't do this.

Happy flower picking kids!
